They come in most OEM applications for medium duty and OTR tractor trailer rigs. The idea was somehow tossed aside for light duty applications, most likely due to cost. For our older IDIs it is a very important issue that needs to be addressed and maintained.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eSCAs, or supplemental coolant additives used in protecting against cavitation, coat the cylinder walls to prevent air pockets from eroding the block from the cooling passage areas. In our IDIs, it is critical to maintain SCAs with a pre-charged filter or Ford VC8 additive to prevent a catastrophic cavitation failure. Additionally, by maintaining a clean cooling system, you prolong the life and performance of your oil cooler, radiator and water pump.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOur coolant filter kits plumb into your existing heater lines, and mount on the existing 92.5+ serpentine driven alternator brackets with no modifications needed. The coolant filters provided are x1 non treated filter (for initial filter changes to remove main contaminates in the cooling system) and x1 pretreated sca filter, which will treat your cooling system with cavitation preventing additives while filtering any contamination in the cooling system.
